Therearefourpapersinthepresentvolume.Thefirstpaperisentitled"Exploringpatternsofconjunctionindifferentregisters：AchallengefromSFLforcorpuslinguists"，byGeoffThompson.Theauthorarguesthat"anSFLapproachsuggestsstronglythatitmaybetimeforcorpuslinguisticstoacceptthatatpresentitisbothliberatedandlimitedbyitsmethodology"，whichechoesHalliday''s（2008：75）assertion："Corpuslinguistshaveaskedustoworktowards''corpus-basedgrammars''；inordertobeabletodothiswehavetoaskthem，inturn，toworktowardsagrammar-basedcorpus."
