本书是根据酒店，特别是五星级酒店，对从业人员的需求特点而编写的一本实训教材，以酒店英语职业技能培养为中心，将英语语言习得与岗位服务技能相结合，旨在培养能从事涉外酒店服务管理各岗位业务操作的应用型、外向型专门人才。本教材共设计有12个项目（Project），每单元涉及一个酒店的典型工作场景项目；每个项目又由6个不同的学习活动（Activity）组成，分别为“岗位认知——了解服务流程及技能要点——语言知识积累——基本技能训练——更多技能提升——智慧酒店”；通过这6个活动的学习流程，学生可以打下坚实的语言基础、锻炼够硬的职业素质，对酒店行业也会有更清晰的认知，对自己的职业生涯有一个科学的规划。
