The Outline for the Development Plan of Guangdong-Hong KongMacao Greater Bay Area defines the goal to “jointly build a culturallyprosperous Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area，” bringing forth opportunities for its cultural development in the new era.In recent years， in response to the call of the Belt and Road Initiative to “go global，” the literary and artistic circle of Guangdong Province， with an open， inclusive， creative cultural view， has taken Lingnan as its basis to tell Lingnan stories， Chinese stories and let the world hear Chinese voices by means of art while endeavoring to promote the cultural construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
Editing and publishing the book series “Guangdong-Hong KongMacao Greater Bay Area Culture·Three Treasures of Lingnan” is a significant attempt for the implementation of The Outline for the Development Plan of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area to “jointly build a culturally-prosperous Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.” It is an attempt to publicize the achievements of the cultural studies as general knowledge to let people， especially the young ones， feel the unique charm of Lingnan art. It is also an attempt to help Lingnan art to “go global” for the cultural communication between different civilizations.
Guangdong， Hong Kong and Macao are closely connected with each other both geographically and culturally. Lingnan culture， the common gene of the three places， has laid the solid cultural and social foundation for the construction of the “Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Culture.” Lingnan culture is an important part of Chinese culture. Over thousands of years， the Eastern and Western cultures merged and clashed into each other in Lingnan region， and have produced a unique splendid local culture. Among them， Cantonese opera， Lingnan school of painting and Cantonese music are the most representative and the most innovative artistic forms of Lingnan culture， which are often acclaimed as the “three treasures of Lingnan.”
Cantonese opera， Lingnan school of painting and Cantonese music are visible， audible that are treasured by the people. They feature special artistic beauty， profound cultural significance and everlasting vitality. As one artistic language popular in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and overseas Chinese communities， they embody the open， inclusive， practical， innovative， pioneering quality and artistic pursuit of Lingnan culture. They will be the symbol of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area culture that needs the contribution of the local cultures.
