本研究通过经济计量学的研究方法，研究了小额信贷公司对宏观经济发展的影响，以及是否能够帮助贫困人口脱贫致富，同时还研究了小额贷款公司的服务范围与可持续性之间的取舍问题，本研究的实证分析基于一个独特的面板数据库。包含了四个不同的数据源来组合和创建这个面板数据库。这些来源包括：小额信贷信息交换MIX市场、国际货币基金组织IMF、雅虎金融和世界银行的世界发展指标WDI。单个MFI数据来自MIX Market information platform维护的数据库。关于宏观经济指标的数据，这一资料来自世界银行的《世界发展指标》。在拉丁美洲和世界，已经建立了一个面板数据集，这为我们提供了一个独特的机会，利用现有数据类型的变化以及机构规模和地点、法律和利润状况、目标市场和国家一级宏观经济指标的变化等方面去研究了小额信贷公司对宏观经济发展的影响，以及是否能够帮助贫困人口脱贫致富，同时还研究了小额贷款公司的服务范围与可持续性之间的取舍问题。
