What is the Chinese family ethical conception？ Instead of the individual freedoms and legitimate rights stressed by Western countries，the Chinese people value"amiable fatherhood and filial offspring."Patriarchs look after the wellbeing of family members while family members should fulfill the duty of filial piety."Sacrificing self for the family"as an exemplary model of social ethics has permeated the logic of social organizations and administrative management.Therefore，the past Chinese ruling regimes pursued dominance by filial piety and righteousness.
In the West，soaety and state have a kind of contractual relationship.There is an absolute distinction between public and private interests.Social and individual rights have respective explicit limits.In China，the distinction between public and private interests is diluted and society comprises layers of outward radial homes.Families are"small homes"and clan relatives are"big homes."Communities and work units are"public homes"above which there is the state."Small homes，""big homes""public homes"and the state whose interestsare closely related share a similar conceptual meaning.
