郭秉文1880—1969，字鸿声，江苏江浦人， 1908年赴美留学，1914年获哥伦比亚大学教育学博士学位；先后任南京高等师范学校教务主任、校长和东南大学校长。他是在国际舞台上最为活跃的中国教育家。
