《音节发音的时间结构》以发音音系学为理论框架，基于发音数据对北京话音节中各成分发音的时间关系进行了深入的实验研究。
发音音系学是一门基于发音动作的音系学理论，由Browman和Goldstein
（1986，1988，1989，1992，1995）提出。该理论认为发音动作是语言中的基本成分，音节由相互配合的发音动作构成。《音节发音的时间结构》将从上述这一理论观点出发，对北京话音节各结构成分之间进行分析和探讨。
